Whose are these?

Wednesday, December 25th, 2013

The last story in the Book of Bereshiet, or Genesis, concerns the end of the lives of Jacob, and later Joseph, and his blessing of his sons.  Perhaps one of the more intriguing, and I will suggest, prophetic, questions in the Torah comes in Gen. 48:8.  And I’ll argue that his question is not only as vitally important now as it was then, but it might well serve as a summary of much of the history of mankind.

By the time that Yakov, or Jacob, adopts the two sons of his oldest son by his wife Rachel as his own, and then blesses them upon his deathbed, he has lived in the land of Egypt, and known the young men, for 17 years.  And yet, when he “beheld Joseph’s sons,” he said, “Whose are these?”   Because the next verse says that Israel’s “eyes were dim for age,” some will claim that he simply was unable to recognize his grandsons.  And yet that simple explanation falls short of the complete truth, for a number of reasons.  Among them is the Scripture’s use of the name Israel in this context, which often implies a larger truth than can be seen with physical eyes alone.  The subsequent detailed description of his having wittingly exchanged both his hands and the ‘blessing of the firstborn’, by putting the younger of the two sons, Ephraim, in first position, is telling as well.

It is the future history of the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh which shows that Jacob, speaking as Israel, saw far more clearly than what met the eye.  Joshua, who led the children of Israel into the promised land following the death of Moses, was of the tribe of Ephraim.  Following the split of the Northern and Southern Kingdoms, the kings of Israel, beginning with Jeroboam, were also of the house of Ephraim.  And yet Israel, this time meaning the ten northern tribes, turned repeatedly to idolatry, and the worship of the false, pagan gods.  For this, exactly as prophesied, they were sent into exile, and even given the equivalent of a ‘certificate of divorce’ by YHVH.  Even today, they remain “scattered among the heathen,” throughout the world.

Unlike the other patriarchs, Scripture tells us very little about the character of the two sons of Joseph.  They were born of an Egyptian (Mitzraite) mother, and raised in a pagan culture, but by a father who clearly knew and worshipped the One Elohim of his fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  We also know the meaning of their names, which therefore is key to understanding their prophetic destinies.  Manasseh, the eldest, was given the name associated with the Hebrew word meaning ‘forget’, “for Elohim has made me forget all my toil, and ALL MY FATHER’S HOUSE.”  (Gen. 41:51)  It was the name of the second, Ephraim, which implies “fruitful,”  because, “Elohim has made my fruitful in the LAND of my AFFLICTION.” (v52)

Given that understanding, perhaps it becomes more clear why Jacob placed the importance of bearing fruit ahead of the concept of forgetting “all my Father’s house!”  Indeed, the seed of Joseph DID utterly forget the statutes, judgments, and commandments of all his Father’s house, and suffer the curses of exile as a direct consequence.  But the prophets tell us that Ephraim (and indeed, by prophetic implication, ALL of those who have been scattered, but who choose to “return to Me,” or make t’shuvah) will eventually be regathered as the prophet Jeremiah, (chapter 3) among multiple witnesses, makes clear.

So what DID Israel see as he “beheld Joseph’s sons,” that caused him to ask the insightful question, “Whose are these?”  Could he have been referring to the idols that would eventually replace the God of Israel in the hearts of his childrens’ childrens’ childrens’ children?  Or — more directly — could he have been asking the question which resonates so perfectly today:

Whose are THESE!!?”   Whose people are these?  Do they belong to YHVH, the Creator, the Author of His Word, and Eternal King?  Or to the only alternative…false gods, paganism, the prince of this world?

Can we tell by their fruit?

Every year, as the Xmas season approaches, many lament the “commercialization” of a “holy-day” which NEVER really had anything to do with the True King of Kings, Messiah, and Son of Yah.  Priests and pastors almost all know the truth, but refuse to admit it to their misled flocks:  the ‘Mass’ was fabricated out of whole cloth to mix pagan sun-god traditions of Mithraism and rationalize the pagan celebration of a winter solstice ‘birth’ instead of His.  Depression, suicide, failed expectations, and the inevitable letdown of December 26th tell only part of the story.  The irony of the current “tradition” is lost on them:  there never WAS a true “christ” in “christ-mass”.   Scriptures like Jeremiah chapter 10,  Deuteronomy chapters 7, 12, 13, and many others tell us why.  Yahuah  does not tolerate any other gods “before His face,” and hates such “abomination.”   Since we understand that, “to whom much is given, much is expected,” it should be increasingly obvious why we should examine our own houses, and ask, “Whose are these?”  If we find idols which He says offend Him, they don’t belong there.

But, arguably even more importantly, the question must be asked about ourselves.  I will suggest that Israel was asking the question about ALL of his sons – and that includes each of us!  Many of us, whether we know it or not, are potential descendents of the “lost tribes of Israel,” collectively of the House of Ephraim.  And whether we are or not, or even if we are of Judah, or simply want to be “grafted in” to the coming Kingdom of Israel, as YHVH regathers His people — the lesson remains the same:

Whose are WE?

The choice, and the implications, have never been more important.

Shemot – the Book of Exodus – and modern slavery

Monday, December 23rd, 2013

This week’s Torah portion begins the Book of Exodus (aka “Shemot” in the Hebrew).

It is a story of deliverance from bondage, and — most importantly — Who does it.

Mark’s teaching on the topic, and the connections to what is happening today, and what must be understood about it, is one of the most “NOT Politically-correct”, and most important, that you may hear:

Evil upside-down, and Irony

Friday, April 5th, 2013

I was struck this morning by this article:

“Judge strikes down age restriction on morning-after pill”

and the irony that it represents.

Amerika [with a ‘k’] once had a Constitution and Bill of Rights which protected all people from prohibited actions by its legitimate government – from illegal searches, to property confiscation, to any restriction whatsoever on the Right to “keep and bear arms”.  All arms.

Now, travel can and is routinely prohibited unless victims “consent” to searches, groping, and theft of items which might offer protection from such abuse by other criminals.

An attempt to give a 16-yr-old a .22 rifle for a birthday gift can — and has — resulted in the arrest of fathers.

And while I am no fan of unconstitutional ‘laws’ prohibiting the so-called ‘possession’ of ANYTHING (find THAT in Article 1 as a power delegated to the central government!) I do find the irony in the decision today “ironic”, to say the least.

A 16-yr-old girl can no longer buy a rifle, even though the Second Amendment once demanded that such a God-given Right “shall not be infringed”.  No matter HOW old she is, if Big Brother prevails against the last shreds of the Constitution, she will not be able to BUY such a tool without permission, without Big Brother’s “universal background check'” and the “Mark” it so clearly represents.  In many places she cannot possess any such tool.

So – we have the following:

In places like Chicago, or NYC, or Washington, D.C, or Connecticut, that 16-yr-old girl cannot so much as THREATEN a rapist with a gun.  But she can kill the baby.

Senate plans Mark of the Beast

Friday, March 8th, 2013

There has been much “gnashing of teeth” and wringing of hands lately about the “Right of the people to keep and bear arms.”

Of course, when that Law was written into the Bill of Rights as a condition for ratification of the Constitution, those who did so unanimously recognized that all such “Rights” come from our Creator.  Now that “democracy” [sic – it is correctly spelt “demon-ocracy,” I contend]  has replaced the form of government once guaranteed by that document to these united States, and YHVH, the God of the Bible, is no longer even PERMITTED in the White House, Congress, courts, or Skools (aka “Publik Indoktrinashun Centurs”) of the land, it should come as no surprise that the ‘voice of the peepul’ is NOW the ‘voice of god’.

At least, those small-g ‘gods’ who have replaced Him.

Everyone with even a rudimentary grasp of history knows that slaves are NEVER permitted by their masters to ‘keep and bear arms’.  So what is the problem?  And what isn’t pretty well already clear?

But maybe there’s more TO this one:

It turns out that a lot of Xtians, and an increasing number of people who are “coming out of” a ‘Church’ that has been teaching His Written Law has been “done away with”, “nailed to the cross”, and just simply doesn’t apply in Modern Babylon — are starting to realize that something is horribly wrong.  We have indeed, as the prophet Jeremiah (16:19)  said, “inherited lies from our fathers.

If the Elohim of Scripture, Who says He “changes not” (Mal. 3:6) and is the same “yesterday, today, and tomorrow” cannot truly be trusted to keep His Word, and if His Commandments don’t apply any more — in spite of His instruction to the contrary — then why in Hell would we think man’s pitiful ‘constitutions’, and ‘laws’ made in accordance with it could possibly fare any better?  Like those who the Messiah rightfully called “hypocrites”, those who rewrite His statutes, judgments, and commandments, too, are “without excuse.”

There really wasn’t much left of the Bill of Rights in Amerika any more anyway…

But there IS something in this ‘debate’ about over-turning the last vestiges of a free people that should “raise the hair on the back of our necks”.  Think of it as a “sign of the times”, and a great indicator of “where we are” in the Last Days ‘timeline’.

Revelation 13:16-17  says that he, “causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,  and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark — the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

Have you followed all the debate about “Universal Background Checks”?

It seems that much of Washington, DC, is absolutely determined to get them in place for the peons.

It’s “very reasonable”, say the talking heads, the sycophants, and the poorly-disguised “Servants of Another Master”, to require the slaves to pass a “background check” before they are ALLOWED to purchase, or “transfer,” a firearm.  Furthermore, the concept that was once called “private property” has now been reduced to a “loophole”.   Recall that “licensed” gun “dealers” have already agreed, by virtue of that license itself, to abide by whatever rules their “master” (the One Who Gave Them the permission to do that!) — that they will abide, without question, by WHATEVER rules their Master dictates.  Both now and in the future, whenever the One Who Gives Permission might decide to change “His” rules!

The problem is, there are SOME who serve a DIFFERENT master, and still think they have the Right, from the Creator of the Universe, to “own property”.  They may not have agreed to the terms of the new “master’s” license.  They still believe (and I hope you’re sitting down) that something they bought, perhaps decades ago, or that was given to them by their grandaddy, is actually “THEIRS”, to use, or give away, or even dispose of, as they see fit!

They may even still think they have  “Rights” from their Creator.  Rights that this OTHER master, aka “Big Brother Himself” no longer tolerates in his world.

Now, a “bipartisan” group of Senators (and that’s the most dangerous kind) wants to “close the gun show” — and “private sale” — loophole, and mandate that ALL firearms transfers must require a “Universal Background Check” before they are allowed to happen.

So – for a second, at least – just forget all the legal jargon.  (They’re already telling you that simply FORBIDDING you from possessing SOMETHING doesn’t really constitute “infringement” anyway, so why would you believe anything else they claim?  …Unless, of course, you’ve been properly Indoctrinated!)

IFF (that’s Engineering Geek shorthand for “IF, and ONLY IF”)  there is such a thing as a “Force for Evil” in the world…whether It is called “Avarice”, the “Lust for Power and Control”, Global Socialism, the “New World Order”, or even Satan…

and IFF — knowingly or just in self-serving ignorance — that Entity is putting together a System of complete control of its Beastly World, perhaps under the guise of regulating all “commerce”…

and IFF that turns out to be EXACTLY what YHVH, the Creator of the Universe, warned us about millenia ago through “His servants the prophets”…

then just how would you expect some parts of that Plan to be put in place?

Consider this:

If they can require PERMISSION to “buy or sell” the single category of property that is SPECIFICALLY and unequivocally enumerated in the Bill of Rights that “shall not be infringed” —

is there ANYTHING that such a slave CANNOT be prohibited from “buying or selling” without some kind of “Mark” – denoting permission from that Beast system?

Back Into Bondage

Friday, February 8th, 2013

The months leading up to the time of Pesach, or Passover, are traditionally a time for the study of the Exodus.  YHVH selected Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Mitzraim (Egypt), following a series of plagues and numerous miracles, most famously the parting of the Sea of Reeds.  It is a story of bondage, and of deliverance.  It is a story that has FAR more to do with the world today than many people would be willing to believe.

The early part of the story includes the ten plagues visited upon those who held Israel in bondage, and — among other things — amounts to a judgment against the many false ‘gods’ (“mighty ones” or elohim) of that land.  This author is not alone in suggesting that when the ‘end times’ great regathering plays out, it, too, will include plagues directed at more modern idols, arguably including at a minimum dishonest ‘money’ (the false god in whom we trust INSTEAD of Him) and perhaps some of the idols pushed by Hollywood.  But it is the question of slavery itself, or bondage to “another master” that is so important to understand today.  And it is the striking contrast to the story of that first Exodus that so illustrates the principles.

Many people have noted that the process of redeeming the people who were freed from Egyptian slavery can be divided primarily into two major phases:  the physical escape from bondage, and the arguably more, and certainly longer, process of overcoming the “slave mentality”.  After getting the children of Israel out of Egypt, in other words, it was necessary to complete the process by getting Egypt out of them.

It is the “slave mentality” that is crucial to subjecting  a people into bondage, and is most pernicious — as Scripture makes so clear — to “come out of”.

The key distinction to be made in that story, and indeed in all of Scripture, seems to rest on the character of the Creator YHVH Himself.  He is a Keeper of Covenant, an Almighty Who honors His Covenants, keeps His promises, and ultimately has SHOWN Himself to be trustworthy.  Pharoah, on the other hand, is the archetype of the alternative:  a mere man with an inflated opinion of himself, who THINKS he is a ‘god,’ does not know or care to know YHVH (Ex. 5:2) — and will not heed correction.  For a time he “hardens his [own] heart” to Moses’ demands to “let My people go,” but eventually it is too late, the die is cast, and YHVH hardens it for him as he goes to his own destruction down the road he has chosen.  YHVH uses him as the primary example of a false god, evil slave master, and failed king — so that our choice will be clear.  At the same time — continually, and repeatedly — that He shows Israel Who He Is (“ani YHVH!” –  “I am that I AM“) He [   ] the alternative.  “I will get Me honor upon Pharaoh”  (Ex. 14:4) and even the Egyptians shall know that “I AM YHVH.”  Pharaoh and all who served him were destroyed by the same waters through which the children of Israel were delivered into freedom, and (Ex. 14:31) they feared YHVH, and believed Him.

The common refrain of Scripture is CHOOSE:  Who we will serve.  Life and blessing, as opposed to death and cursing.  And WHICH Master!  The One Who keeps His Covenant, or the ‘prince of this world’, and those who serve him, whether they are called Pharaoh, Caesar, Emperor, Czar, king,  Premier, Chief Executive, Dictator, Fuhrer, or Commander.  Ultimately, as the Messiah tells us (Matthew 6:24 et al) we cannot and must not serve both.

The story of the Exodus is the story of YHVH, “by His mighty hand,” bringing His people OUT of bondage to Pharaoh, first by removing them from that place of bondage, and then delivering them from the attitude of bondage, as they learned to serve Him, and obey His Instruction, including His “statutes, judgments, and commandments.”  The story of the world, today, however, is a stark contrast, as people who once claimed to be His are deceived BACK into bondage.

We have truly “inherited lies from our fathers.”  If, as the ‘church’ has preached for centuries, the “law is done away with” — then why should we be surprised when governments of man ignore the “Supreme Law of the Land,” and treat what were once called “God-given Rights” as mere privileges, subject to revocation at the whim of the new master?  When ever-increasing “terror threats” justify treating once-free people like convicted criminals, they are no longer free.  When “due process” is no longer due, “citizens” are conditioned to servitude.  When police and federal ‘officers’  become “enforcers” rather than public servants, the conditioning to servitude continues.  When ‘the law’ becomes a tool for subjugation rather than the foundation for justice, that process is nearly complete.

When disarmed, helpless people are huddled together in what could better be described as “indoctrination centers” than educational institutions, why are we surprised that pharma-psychotic killers seek them out as killing fields full of easy prey?  And that the expected “solution” is always “more of the same” thing which helped foment the problem?  The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was ousted from the scene long ago, replaced by the god(s) of this world.   What are the slaves told to expect?  More prescribed drugs, more “Laws” that violate the Real Law, more control, and more power and glory to Pharaoh.

Thus says YHVH: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm [strength]; whose heart departs from YHVH.   (Jeremiah/YermeYahu 17:5)

Just as Pharaoh’s magicians claimed to be able to mimic the initial plagues of YHVH, and managed to bring forth even MORE frogs (as if that was somehow an answer to the problem!) — so today do the magicians and banksters and politicians manage to bring forth more plagues of drugs, and violence, and dishonest money.  And the burdens of the once-free slaves increase.  Rather than being delivered FROM a slave mentality, the world and those in and of it are being conditioned more and more INTO a slave mentality.  In the formerly United States, for example, sacrosanct God-given Rights like freedom of assembly, speech, privacy, and self-protection are being methodically regulated, registered, taxed, and prohibited.  Even the Right to own private property is being systematically eliminated – ironically by “infringing” first on the ONE type of private property (“arms”, or military and defense weapons)  which was EXPLICITLY protected by the Bill of Rights!  If the Law protecting property singled out for protection can be so completely ignored, just what is left that CANNOT be denied to such people?  Slaves cannot claim to own property.

Perhaps worse still, not only are “Rights” once said to come from a God that is no longer welcome in Government, its schools, and its courts being ignored (even while politicians swear an OATH before Him) but the only ‘rights’ that DO seem to matter are things YHVH Himself calls abomination:  “Our journey is not complete until our gay [sic – homosexual] brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law,” said the ostensible king of the Amerikan Democracy, as he took the Creator of the Universe to task for not understanding “love”.  It would appear that the only “rights” which will soon remain include things YHVH calls “abomination” — the ‘right’ of a man to be licensed by Pharaoh to “lie with a man as with a woman”, and the ‘right’ of a woman to commit murder of a baby at least up until the moment of birth.  (The irony of that lie was revealed in a recent address by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who claimed recently that a woman must have the ability to abort a baby, “because it’s her body, her choice,” although in that same state she is NOT allowed to say “No!” to a demand for a “stop and frisk” warrant-less search, or to a grope or X-ray at a subway station or airport, or to a rapist with a handgun.  Some “choice”.  Who’s body was it again, Gov?)

Slaves don’t have Rights from God, they have privileges, granted on the whim of their earthly master.  As people turn away from God, and seek instead the “protection” of ‘elohim’ like Presidents and Pharaohs, they are being led back INTO bondage, back INTO a slave mentality.  As has been seen so clearly are repeatedly of late, “evil” is being called good, exactly as prophesied, and “because lawlessness (‘torah-less-ness’) shall abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12)

YHVH led the children of Israel out of Egypt via “the long way” home, because He knew that they would encounter trials, and testing, and would look for the easy way out — which is to return to bondage.  For most of the world today, the “easy road” leads directly to slavery, in the form of that “other master.”  Politicians, and police, and even preachers claim to believe “in” the law, whether it is God’s, or man, but then don’t DO what it says, much less what He says!  “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”  (Luke 6:46)

Sadly, that applies to the people who might like to be “called by His Name” as well.  They claim to believe “IN God” – but then don’t actually BELIEVE Him!  That is NOT GOOD ENOUGH, because, “even the demons believe!”  (Yakov/James 2:19)

By now, it is becoming impossible to deny that difficult times lie ahead, for the whole world.  Economic collapse is clearly in progress, and the abominations of dishonest fiat money, like the Almighty Dollar, the “world reserve currency,” are being destroyed.  The erstwhile slave masters of that world seek to consolidate their control over the masses before those people realize the degree to which they have already been enslaved, and before they can choose en masse to “come out of her,” and perhaps avoid the plagues which lie dead ahead.  The propaganda, the indoctrination, the deception, and ultimately the coercion to submit — again! — to Pharaoh and to the world system will continue accelerate.  Slavery follows, and those who have been properly conditioned will come to understand why they must submit to his ‘mark’ if they want to be able to buy or sell, or even keep property they once thought they owned.

For those who seek to serve YHVH, and obey “Him alone,” the choice has never been clearer, more stark, and — by design — more difficult.  The “easy road” leads back into bondage, while the longer road that He has for us will truly take us home.  We can choose to truly believe Him, and thus obey Him, and trust Him, or trust in the lies, because those whom He has made free will be “free indeed.”   It is not enough to believe IN Him.  If we believe that He IS Who He says He is, we must DO what our real Master says as well.
