Parsha “Vayikra”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa”

Sunday, March 17th, 2019

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a look at parsha “Vayikra” (the first parsha in the Book of the same name, AKA “Leviticus”, chapters 1 through 5).

This parsha begins with very different, perhaps even grammatically ‘problematic’ verse, that essentially says somebody “called out to Moshe” in an evidently loving way. And it includes one of those “jots and tiddles”, too!

In the Erev Shabbat review of what that means, Mark notes that the Book begins with the word “And…” – so it’s a continuation of SOMETHING, and notes that much of this whole Book also makes the vitally important point that it’s in there for a reason!

And if we ignore that reason, or – worse still – try to convince ourselves that what He said hasn’t changed somehow DID, then what He really do for us after all? Scripture draws a clear bright line between “unintentional sin” and – well, whatever it should be called when the choice is ignorance instead.

SSM “Vayikra” 2019

Alternative link from Hebrew Nation Radio:

Vayikra is a call to ‘intimacy’ with YHVH — and after the events that closed out the Exodus, perhaps specifically a RETURN toward intimacy. And as part of that process, it includes some specific procedures for how that works, when one chooses to make “an offering of themselves” to Him.

And right there, SOME of the issues with what has become dogma surrounding what is now called “sacrifice” begin to come into focus.

After the overview introduction of Erev Shabbat, Mark follows up with the hardcore Scriptural proof that the reason not only a ‘whore church’ that ignores His Word is STILL in exile but a whole society now chooses death over life is that what once passed for ‘priests’ “FAILED to teach the difference” between the clean and unclean, holy and profane, good and evil. We don’t even understand the difference between an offering and a sacrifice, much less what has been “done away with” as opposed to done for us.

Yes, this one is hard-hitting, certainly not “politically correct” (much less filled with ‘socialist just-us’) and not to be missed.

Parsha “Mishpatim”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa”

Sunday, February 3rd, 2019

Parsha “Mishpatim” (Exodus chapters 21 through 24) is – no doubt about it — the Scriptural “next step” after the general principles and ‘broad strokes’ of the “Ten Commandments.”

It is also the most “judgment-oriented” parsha in the Torah, and has more of what the title says, ‘mishpatim,’ judgments or ordinances, than any other. More importantly, it is THE basis for what once formed the heart of the ‘common law’, and the very essence of ‘righteousness’ and thus civil society.

The fact that it is now “politically INcorrect” speaks volumes.

Join Mark Call first for the Erev Shabbat review of all of that, and the reason why REAL ‘social justice’ is what YHVH says it is, as opposed to self-described “warriors” against it:

Parsha “Re’eh”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, August 12th, 2018

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for this week’s teaching of “Re’eh,” (Deuteronomy 11:25 through 16:17), which he initially begins by introducing as the parsha which is front and center when it comes to “Debunking Bogus ‘xtianity’ “.

And the Erev Shabbat overview of course begins there, where Moses begins by say, paraphrased a bit, “Hey, check it out!” or, “Behold!,” or just “See…”
…I set before you a blessing, and a curse…

So choose.

But, perhaps more importantly, THIS is THE parsha that really nails WHY the ‘whore church’ has been so deceived by paganism.

Alternative link via HNR:

The Sabbath Day teaching will no doubt be one of the most “controversial” – even by Mark’s standard – in some time, because this parsha really DOES encapsulate so much of what the paganized, romanized, 501c(3) Caesar-licensed corporate ‘chuch’ of “another master” has come to preach: “another jesus, whom we have NOT preached…”

But the title lays out the premise.

Parsha “Bemidbar”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, May 20th, 2018

Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa teaches “Bemidbar,” the first parsha in the Book of that same name, aka “Numbers” (and there are a lot of THOSE, too!) — Numbers 1:1 through 4:20.

The Erev Shabbat overview describes why the English monikers of “Numbers” really isn’t so inappropriate in this case, because much of this first portion is about precisely that.

SSM “Bemidbar” for 2018

Alternative link via Hebrew Nation Radio:

There is, of course, much more, too, although the numbers themselves are the very reason why Moses is commanded to make that first census of the children of Israel.

The Sabbath Day teaching continues that exploration of the major themes of the portion, beginning with the concept of ‘counting heads,’ or conducting a census — at the command of YHVH. — and what that says about ‘why’ such a census of His people is only made at His explicit command (as King David later realized).

Again, there are elements of contrast between those who, as did Moses, “did as Yahuah commanded,” and so much of what happens today, where those who count themselves as owned by “another master” should realize that WHATEVER that master may claim, it isn’t Him!

There is a very important reason why Yahushua responded with the questions that He did to those that tried to trip Him up over a “tax question”. And the part that is often overlooked is not just “whose image and inscription” is on Caesar’s coin, but WHOSE are WE?

“Bemidbar: Whose?”

“Ki Tasa”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, March 4th, 2018

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa for a discussion of the parsha that might be described as one of the most “pivotal” in the whole Book — Parsha “Ki Tasa,” Exodus 30:11 through chapter 34).

Starting with the Erev Shabbat overview and a look at some of the amazing patterns in Torah that, arguably, ‘bracket’ some things for special emphasis…to the disaster of the ‘golden calf’.

The Sabbath Day teaching this week compares THAT “pivotal” failure in Biblical history with today, and the fact — demonstrated repeatedly — that we still make the very same mistake. Over and over again.

“Chayei Sarah”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, November 12th, 2017

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa for a final look at the story of Abraham, and his wife Sarah, but perhaps more importantly at perhaps THE pre-eminient parsha when it comes to ‘Legal Precedent’. (Parsha “Chayei Sarah,” Genesis 23:1 – 25:18)

The Erev Shabbat overview teaching is an examination of what it literally THE primary story that underlies major concepts of what was once understood to be the Common Law:
Contract, Agency – or ‘power of attorney,’ and Marriage.

SSM Chayei Sarah 2017

The Sabbath Day teaching connects all of that to the lessons of the “Torah Made Flesh,” Who came in His Father’s Name, to DO His Father’s will. How can we possibly know what it means for US each to seek to be a “good and faithful servant,” if we don’t understand the precedents He shows us?

“Nitzavim/Vayelekh”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, September 17th, 2017

This week the annual Torah cycle begins to come to a close, with double-parsha “Netzavim/Vayelekh,” from Deuteronomy 29:10 through all of chapter 31.

The Erev Shabbat overview teaching reviews what Mark often calls not only one of his very favorite parts of Scripture, but also perhaps the most “compelling” single chapter in the Book.

And the reasons will be made clear!

SSM Netzavim-Vayelekh 2017 – including Deuteronomy chapter 30

The Sabbath Day teaching is a look at what may be one of the most fundamental issues that those who attempt to “come out of” the Whore Church — and, yes, that’s really the bottom line — have to deal with. What really IS different about a “Hebraic mindset”? And why does that same guy (Paul) who warns us about being fooled by “another jesus, whom we have NOT preached,” also say we need to “work out our own salvation with FEAR and TREMBLING?” It is REALLY possible that we have “inherited lies” after all? And that the solution has been right here, and emphasized in THIS Torah portion, all along?

“Acharei Mot / Kedoshim”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, May 7th, 2017

This week, Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa examines another double Torah portion, Acharei Mot and then Kedoshim, Leviticus chapters 16 through 20.

AND yet AGAIN, we find another segment in Scripture that we have probably been TOLD is boring, obsolete, irrelevant, and – especially – “done away with,” and again is focused explicitly on the difference between life and death.

This week the Erev Shabbat overview start with what happened “after the death” (‘acharie mot’) of the two sons of Aaron, from the story of the two goats of Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement (yes, it still matters!) to a lot of commandments that the modern world certainly ignores, and we can see both why, and what the consequences are:

SSM Acharei Mot / Kedoshim 2017

The Sabbath Day teaching this week again demonstrates that Torah really IS a matter of “Life and Death.” This time the “view from 10,000 feet” shows us why Mark contends this “double-portion” is literally a look right into why the world is in the shape it is:

“Chayei Sarah” – teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Saturday, November 26th, 2016

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa for some insight into what might be called the first Law Seminar in the Scripture — several stories that literally form the basis for what was once known as the “Common Law”: Contract, Agency, Covenant;
Parsha “Chayei Sarah” (Genesis 23:1 through 25:18).

The Erev Shabbat teaching is all about Learning By Example; “precedent”, even. The first land contract, about one of the most important parcels ever sold, and why. What it means to “come in the name of,” and why marriage is more than a contract, but isn’t “covenant” without understanding, either.

SSM “Chayei-Sarah” 2016

The Sabbath Day teaching suggests that there is a reason why “lawlessness abounds” now, perhaps like never before:

We don’t understand contract, much less Covenant!

“Bereshiet” – teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Monday, October 31st, 2016

If we REALLY want to understand what the Word of YHVH actually says, as opposed to what men say He should have said, we need to begin – “In the Beginning…”

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa in the mountains of southern Colorado as we do exactly that.

During the Erev Shabbat teaching (Friday evening service), we again look at the whole parsha, from Genesis (Bereshiet) 1 through chapter 6 verse 8.

SSM Bereshiet 2016

During the Sabbath Day teaching, we turn to another of those VERY NOT ‘politically correct’ parts of Scripture, in some detail. And it turns out that the Beginning Part of the Beginning Book really IS the foundation upon which all that follows rests. No wonder it’s being destroyed.
