Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa teaches the double-parsha “Tazria-Metzorah” (Leviticus\/Vayikra chapters 12 through 15) and several very much related (but perhaps surprising!) Scriptures associated with a portion that has been described as everything from “BOOOORING!” to absolutely fascinating. Perhaps because it is SO ‘foreign’, in so many ways, to our experience. And that is part of the problem, and the fascination.<\/p>\n

The Erev Shabbat overview begins with something that most of us have at least SOME understanding, or experience with, the ‘circumcision’. And — like so many of these Scriptures that we have “inherited lies” about — there’s a lot of the NOT ‘politically correct’ in there, too.<\/p>\n

The Sabbath Day teaching continues with the major themes of ‘tzaraat’ (whatEVER that is!) and what connections, if any, there might be with “the tongue”, or the things which “come OUT of a man,” and “defile him”.<\/p>\n

Follow along as Mark again “pulls no punches,” and points out why Scripture refers to TWO ‘whoring houses’ (northern and southern kingdoms, Samaria and Jerusalem, Oholah and Ohilibah, Israel and Judah, and, yes, he suggests, modern rabbinic ‘Pharasaic’ Judaism, and pagan Romanized churchianity) and BOTH of them were exiled ‘for CAUSE’ (idolatry\/adultery)<\/p>\n
