This week Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship examines parsha \u201cMishpatim,\u201d (Exodus chapters 22 through 24) which follows the \u201cTen Commandments\u201d in a way that too many who teach that the \u201claw is done away with\u201d would no doubt prefer to CONTINUE to ignore.<\/p>\n
The Erev Shabbat overview points out why the name \u201cmishpatim,\u201d ordinances<\/em>, or judgments<\/em>, is apropos, (there are more of \u2019em in this parsha than any other) but the structure itself speaks volumes. If the \u2018ten commandments\u2019 outline our relationships, first to our Creator, then our fellow man, in order that we might know how to stay OUT of the bondage of Egypt, then here is an immediate, dramatic contrast!<\/p>\n SSM Mishpatim 2020<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n The Sabbath day teaching is about what happens when the \u201cLaw\u201d really IS \u201cdone away with\u201d. Not by the One True Creator, YHVH, of course, but men who not only don\u2019t like what He Wrote, but hate Him.<\/p>\n There has perhaps never been a more clear demonstration of what \u201clawlessness abounds\u201d means!
