{"id":2502,"date":"2022-11-13T07:41:41","date_gmt":"2022-11-13T14:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2502"},"modified":"2022-11-13T07:41:41","modified_gmt":"2022-11-13T14:41:41","slug":"parsha-vayeira-teaching-from-shabbat-shalom-mesa-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2502","title":{"rendered":"Parsha \u201cVayeira\u201d teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a two-part look, among other important things, perhaps the most significant event in the life of both Abraham, and his son Yitzak (Isaac) &#8211; also known as the Akieda, or &#8216;binding of Isaac&#8217;\u2026parsha Veyeira (Genesis chapters 18 through 22).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s often cited as one of the most dramatic stories of &#8220;faith&#8221; in all of Scripture &#8211; but, even so, there is still more to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sequence again begins with the Erev Shabbat reading:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/hebrewnationonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/SSM-11-11-22-Vayeira-teaching-podcast-x.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark suggests that while the story of the &#8216;binding of Isaac&#8217; is without question a history-making Act of Faith, when it comes to whose faith was tested, or &#8211; better still &#8211; proven, for our benefit more than His. Because He already knew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that is the key for this week&#8217;s midrash. Abraham KNEW, of a certainty, that the promises he had been given were to come though that son that he was given through Sarah.
