{"id":2525,"date":"2023-01-08T07:25:51","date_gmt":"2023-01-08T14:25:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2525"},"modified":"2023-01-08T07:25:51","modified_gmt":"2023-01-08T14:25:51","slug":"parsha-vayechi-teaching-from-shabbat-shalom-mesa-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2525","title":{"rendered":"Parsha \u201cVayechi\u201d teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Students of torah have seen for years that there are (at least) two &#8220;types and shadows,&#8221; or harbingers of the Messiah, the first of which, Mashiach ben Yosef, aka &#8216;the Suffering Servant,&#8217; and the final installment of the story of his life, is described in this parsha, Yayechi (Genesis 47:28 through the End of the Book.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, the Erev Shabbat overview of the whole parsha:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/hebrewnationonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/SSM-1-6-23-Vayechi-teaching-podcast-x.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since this parsha completes the Book of Genesis, it&#8217;s understandable that there would be a number of elements, like the &#8216;death bed actions&#8217; of the patriarch Yakov, that set up so much that is to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in the Sabbath midrash, Mark suggests that Joseph&#8217;s reaction to his brothers&#8217; request to &#8216;forgive them&#8217; &#8211; AGAIN &#8211; is one that should strike us as particularly poignant today. After all, he already did. And so did He.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Vayechi: Already forgiven?
