{"id":2538,"date":"2023-02-12T07:01:18","date_gmt":"2023-02-12T14:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2538"},"modified":"2023-02-12T07:01:18","modified_gmt":"2023-02-12T14:01:18","slug":"parsha-yitro-teaching-from-shabbat-shalom-mesa-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2538","title":{"rendered":"Parsha \u201cYitro\u201d teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This week Parsha Yitro (Exodus\/Shemot chapters 18 through 20) begins with the arrival of Yitro (aka &#8216;Jethro&#8217;) at the camp of the &#8216;mixed multitude&#8217;, along with Moshe&#8217;s wife Zipporah and his two sons, but it&#8217;s certainly true that the part of the story for which is most famous happens at Mount Sinai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Erev Shabbat overview of the whole parsha tells us about Yitro&#8217;s arrival, his understanding of the Real Elohim that follows, some excellent advice for his son-in-law, and of course the lead-up and giving of the &#8220;Ten Debarim,&#8221; (words, sayings, commandments):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/hebrewnationonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SSM-2-10-23-Yitro-teaching-podcast-xx.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark again asks a couple of question to set up the Sabbath day midrash:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What belongs to US? What is His?
