{"id":2558,"date":"2023-04-23T07:16:19","date_gmt":"2023-04-23T13:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2558"},"modified":"2023-04-23T07:16:19","modified_gmt":"2023-04-23T13:16:19","slug":"parsha-tazria-teaching-from-shabbat-shalom-mesa-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2558","title":{"rendered":"Parsha \u201cTazria\u201d teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa Fellowship for a two-part look at parsha &#8220;Tazria&#8221; (Leviticus\/Vayikra chapters 12 through 13) &#8212; and several lessons that are dramatic, not only because they are now so &#8220;politically incorrect,&#8221; but so at odds with what we have seen in the world &#8211; for centuries even &#8211; that the contrast is almost stunning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still though, there&#8217;s something strangely &#8216;familiar&#8217; in the detail here, even if much of it may have been &#8220;turned on its head.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Erev Shabbat reading of the parsha is first:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/hebrewnationonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SSM-4-21-23-Tazria-teaching-podcast-x.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In Torah cycles past, Mark has suggested that since the plague in this parsha, tzaraat (NOT &#8216;leprosy,&#8217; which is quite different) for literally centuries, and certainly seems to be a physical skin condition resulting from a spiritual isse, we might ask the question, &#8216;Why?&#8217; Or, why NOT?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, since, &#8220;those He loves, He chastens,&#8221; doesn&#8217;t that say something negative about a world where even shame no longer seems to modify truly insane actions?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, this time around, it&#8217;s a different question that sets the stage: Do we think that even if YHVH was to bring a massive plague of tzaraat on those who Evil Tongues are SO evil, that it would even make a difference?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But then again, here&#8217;s food for thought: Maybe we DID have just such a &#8216;plague&#8217;. Consider, The Adversary, HaSatan, is not very original. When we had real &#8216;cohenim,&#8217; they were to look at the detailed description of the plague in this parsha, and then determine, literally DECLARE, that it was, or was not, &#8216;tzaraat&#8217;.
