{"id":2792,"date":"2025-01-12T07:04:50","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T14:04:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2792"},"modified":"2025-01-12T07:04:50","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T14:04:50","slug":"parsha-vayechi-teaching-from-shabbat-shalom-mesa-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2792","title":{"rendered":"Parsha \u201cVayechi\u201d teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The annual-cycle Torah reading week, parsha Vayechi (Genesis\/Bereshiet chapter 47:28-End) not only concludes the story of the life and times of Yakov or Jacob, but of Yosef (Joseph) as well, and the Book of Genesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Erev Shabbat reading:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/hebrewnationonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/SSM-1-10-25-Vayechi-teaching-podcast-xx.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Among other things, including Yakov&#8217;s blessings for his sons, and thus the tribes of Israel, this parsha includes the &#8216;adoption&#8217; of Yosef&#8217;s two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (or is it Manasseh and Ephraim???) into the &#8220;twelve&#8221; bribes of Israel. Where Yakov &#8220;crosses his hands,&#8221; during that blessing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He asks a question, too. Which seems almost out of place. And yet, it&#8217;s also almost as easy for us to just gloss over it, and ignore the potential implications. But is should resonate with us now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vayechi: Whose are these?
