{"id":2961,"date":"2026-04-26T07:30:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T13:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2961"},"modified":"2026-04-26T07:30:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T13:30:22","slug":"torah-teaching-for-parsha-metzora","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=2961","title":{"rendered":"Torah Teaching for Parsha \u201cMetzora\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Parsha &#8220;Metzora&#8221; (Leviticus chapters 14 through 15) is the conclusion to the study of something which does not even exist anymore &#8211; the &#8216;plague&#8217;, or malady, or skin disease once called &#8220;tzaraat.&#8221; But maybe the world would be better of if it did. Or at least people behaved as if it still did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is it just possible that there is more here than we&#8217;ve been told?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a story that only begins there.  And if you find the connections valuable, please forward the message to those who might be blessed by it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Erev Shabbat reading lays out more of the details of &#8216;unclean-ness,&#8217; such as following childbirth, and the associated requirements that follow afterward:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/hebrewnationonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/SSM-4-24-26-Metzora-teaching-podcast-xx.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But the real Truth seems to be in the connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark begins the Sabbath Day midrash with a look at what might be relevant about &#8220;rituals&#8221; associated with events, like childbirth, and a woman&#8217;s monthly cycle, that still happen regularly, and observations by some even in &#8216;mainstream Christianity&#8217; that there has been a tendency, for several generations at least, to &#8220;bend the Bible&#8217; to conform to the popular culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OK &#8211; tell me somethin&#8217; we didn&#8217;t know! Obviously it goes much further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this parsha turns out to be a perfect illustration, he contends. Because the related claim is that, instead, people should try to &#8220;conform to the image of &#8216;Jesus'&#8221; &#8212; even if they fail to recognize the fact that that very &#8216;image&#8217; has been bent to conform to a culture which doesn&#8217;t even recognize the real Messiah from their fuzzy-wuzzy imitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Does that offend you?&#8221; He asked &#8212; more than once. But &#8220;blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.\u201d Does it matter that much of churchianity seems to be offended by the Real Yahushua HaMashiach, but not their substitute?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The irony is that YHVH sent both the PLAGUE of &#8216;tzaraat&#8217; and His Son, the very &#8220;Torah Made Flesh,&#8221; to His people.
