{"id":3007,"date":"2026-08-30T07:04:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T13:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=3007"},"modified":"2026-08-30T07:04:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T13:04:10","slug":"torah-teaching-for-parsha-ki-tavo-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/markniwot.com\/?p=3007","title":{"rendered":"Torah Teaching for parsha \u201dKi Tavo\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>There are a number of important elements in parsha &#8220;Ki Tavo&#8221; (Deuteronomy 26:1 &#8211; 29:8) &#8212; but it&#8217;s probably known for being the most daunting collection of curses in the Bible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And &#8212; again &#8212; that puts it, arguably, at the heart of the destruction of Western Civilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is that deserved?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Call, of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship, begins to lay out the issue in the Erev Shabbat reading:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/hebrewnationonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SSM-8-28-26-Ki-Tavo-teaching-podcast-xxx.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The words &#8216;ki tavo,&#8217; are translated from the Hebrew as &#8220;when you have come&#8221; &#8211; into the land. And those curses certainly apply there. And one of the specific consequences is &#8216;shalach&#8217; &#8211; or being &#8220;sent out.&#8221; Exiled. And that has happened &#8211; to BOTH kingdoms. And it REMAINS the case to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So &#8211; do the curses still apply? Or not? And don&#8217;t miss the irony in the fact that some who say, &#8220;of COURSE not&#8221; &#8211; because &#8220;the law is done away with&#8221; &#8211; probably should be paying more attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: &#8216;Curses&#8217; are another one of those topic that tends to upset people. Particularly when they hit close to home, and Mark again pulls no punches.
