Parsha “Vayishlach” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Join Mark Call for two teachings on this week’s Torah portion, “Vayishlach.” (Genesis chapters 32:4 through 36).

During the Erev Shabbat teaching, (Friday evening) Mark covers the entire parsha — the story of Jacob’s challenges in reconciling with his estranged brother Esau, the subsequent ‘rape of Dinah,’ (if that’s really what it is) and the violence that follows.

The longer teaching from Shabbat again focuses on at least one of the broader themes pervading the portion, and might be titled, “Dealing with Esau…” and violence, and indeed ‘the world.’   This, too, is a section of Scripture that should REALLY speak to us today!
