If you are having difficulty explaining to ‘mainstream’ Sunday-school believers or even lapsed or disgruntled friends what it is about a “Hebrew Roots” understanding of Scripture that is different from what “we have HEARD it said” in the Bible, but it doesn’t REALLY say, then this is the teaching to download and save.
Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship takes a two-step look at the single, short, two chapter portion of the Torah that pretty much nails TWO of the Very Biggest Lies in all of xtianity:
– “the ‘Law’ (all that Olde Testament stuff) has been Done Away With,”
and
– NOBODY, except Jesus, could Keep it anyway, so don’t bother trying either.
Not only that, but this parsha (Nitzavim, Deuteronomy 29:10 – 30:20) also includes perhaps the most succinct “Two-Word Summary” of Torah Exegesis in the Book, “Choose Life!”
The Erev Shabbat overview of the parsha lays it all out, in SSM “Nitzavim” 2019

While the Torah portion alone is sufficient to remove any doubt about the fact that the Author of Scripture says keeping His Torah is NOT too hard for us, the fact of the matter is that most of us really have “inherited lies” (a whole bunch of ’em!) “from our fathers” and been taught those Big Whoppers. Mark takes a look at some of the worst of those in more depth during the Sabbath Day examination, and the fact that what we have seen for centuries, if not millenia, really is “animosity” to Yahuah, and His Torah, or Instruction for us. And just as Kefa (aka “Peter”) warned, Paul is very often “TWISTED, by the unlearned and untaught” — resulting literally in destruction. There’s the letter to the Romans, and then, perhaps the Most Twisted Book of all – Galatians.
