Parsha “Vaetchanan”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, August 18th, 2019

This week, Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship embarks on a study of the single parsha in the Torah containing perhaps the premier collection of the ‘most fundamental texts’ in Scripture. And they are NOT limited to just the ‘Ten Debarim [‘Sayings’, ‘Commandments,’ ‘Words…’] and the Most Important single command in the Book, aka ‘the Shema’, but others that are now even more overlooked.

The Erev Shabbat overview of the portion (Deuteronomy3:23 – 7:11)

Mark begins the Sabbath Day “deeper examination” of the parsha from the ‘inside out’, because the most well-known elements are in the middle of the portion, and also becauase they have largely been discounted now by a world not only gone “insane”, but downright demonic, once the parts that lead up to them were totally “done away with,” by those who failed to “hear and obey” as commanded.

Moses warns those who would turn from obedience to the instruction of Yahuah of the consequences, which included the exile we are STILL enduring. He warned as well about being coerced to serve other, false, ‘gods’. There is a vitally important promise in there, too, about the eventual time, during the ‘end times’, when we not just can, but WILL, “return to Him.”

But what might just resonate most with us, today, while we ‘wait on YHVH’ is the idea of just exactly what we are seeing built around us, and the consequences of that rebellion. A “World Without Trust”.

Parsha “Yitro”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa”

Sunday, January 27th, 2019

Parsha Yitro (Exodus chapters 18 through 20) is most famously associated with the giving of the “Ten Commandments” to the mixed multitude of “All Israel” on Mount Sinai.

There is, of course, much more. More to the story, more to what was said, and maybe even more than just “ten” of ’em.

Join Mark Call first for the Erev Shabbat review of all of that.

During the Sabbath Day teaching, Mark continues that teaching with a deeper look at some of the major “themes” of Yitro, from his mission, to the ‘preparation’ for what is to come, to the famous Covenant itself. There’s even a bit of “nerdy Markology”, which hopefully informed speculation, perhaps couched in modern terminology to help expand on a millenia-old event.

And have you ever noticed that YHVH describes what He is offering to a “Kingdom of PRIESTS” even before those cohenim are identified later as specifically from the tribe of Levi?

including some observations, and ‘dot-connection’, regarding what may have been one of the biggest “data dumps” in human history.

Mark calls it “channel prep” — preparing US for the download, and all the ‘hyperlinks’ that computer channels do at electronic speeds nowadays, but we still have to do by preparing ourselves — line by line, precept by precept — for His instruction to be written on our hearts, so we can walk what we have already been told is a “narrow path” — and FEW there be that find it.

Parsha “Vaetchanon”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, July 29th, 2018

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for this week’s teaching of “Vaetchanon,” (Deuteronomy 3:23 through 7:11), arguably one of THE most “central” and fundamental teachings in the entire Torah.

The Erev Shabbat overview begins at “and I besought”, the opening words, “V’etchanan” through the warnings about idolatry, and not “adding to,” or “subtracting from” (still VERY popular with both exiled houses!) to the Ten Debarim (commandments, or sayings) and what is described by the Torah Made Flesh as THE most important commandment in Scripture. The main theme, however, is not just “hear,” but “obey,” and “DO!”:

“Yitro”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, February 4th, 2018

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa another of those truly “pivotal” stories in all of human history, which begins with the arrival of Moses’ father-in-law, Yitro (not to be confused with Jethro Bodine) and includes the voice of YHVH from Mt. Sinai, and the giving of the “Ten Words/Sayings/Commandments” (Parsha “Yitro,” Exodus 18:1 through chapter 20)…
SOME of which, says the ‘church’ may still even apply today!

Warning: Adult content and language. Mark makes it clear that sometimes the truth must be blunt and unambiguous.  No punches pulled this week!

The Sabbath Day teaching this week again continues the in-depth exploration of those major ‘themes’ in the story of the Exodus, this time revolving around those “Ten Commandments” themselves, and what we can see has happened since the “law has been DONE AWAY WITH”.

Sabbath Day:

“Vaetchanan”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sunday, August 6th, 2017

Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa teaches the parsha from the Book of Devarim/Deuteronomy this week — “Vaetchanan” (3:32 thru 7:11) — that begins a series with more “concentrated MEAT” than perhaps any section of Scripture.

The Erev Shabbat overview teaching, and the specifics of the ‘statutes, judgments, and commandments’ that we are NOT to “add to” or “subtract from,” but DO:

SSM “Vaetchanan” 2017

The Sabbath Day teaching begins by noting that Deuteronomy is just plain DIFFERENT from all the other Books in the Torah. And so is this teaching. Admittedly, it’s a bit like drinking from a fire hose, but ‘the Words’ that begin here explain why ‘the World’ so hates them!

Warning: As usual, Mark pulls no punches. It’s not just the ‘Whore Church’ we see so clearly in this portion, but the fact that the two kingdoms might also be termed the “Add-to House,” and the “Subtract-from House.”
