Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa for a look at this week’s Torah portion, “Emor,” from Leviticus 21 through 24.
As it turns out, there are – or certainly at least were – set apart people, or Kohenim, and things, like the temple furnishings, and places, like the Mishkan.
But, too often overlooked, since we’ve inherited so many lies by now, there are set apart TIMES, too.
All of these are explored first, in the Erev Shabbat teaching.

During the Sabbath Day teaching, Mark is even a bit more blunt than usual, because the topic demands nothing less. Sometimes if we desire to understand what it means to be “set apart”, it’s very helpful to know, “from WHAT?”
And here’s a question that really hits home. What does it mean to “serve Him”? Perhaps we’ve been lied to on that score, too.
…so, be ready, “in season and out,” to explain what that means.
