Parsha “Nitzavim” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha Nitzavim [“you are standing THIS Day…” from Deuteronomy 29:9 through chapter 30] contains what Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa contend is one of the most graphic and undeniable refutations of some of THE Biggest Lies in all xtianity…things that are NOT in the Real Book, but get taught in sun-god-day skool as if they actually were.

It also contains THE singular Two Word Summary of not only His Instruction, but how to “rightly divide the Word,” which applies even if it even appears to the ‘uneducated and untaught’ as if there is some conflict.

The Erev Shabbat reading makes it clear:

The Sabbath midrash explores the depth of the Big Lie that most of us were taught – wrongly – in a church which first tried to claim “the Law” was “done away with,” and then followed up with the caveat, that, well, ‘NOBODY but jesus could possibly KEEP it anyway!’

Worse, is that both of them try to claim the Creator and Author of Scripture Himself is a liar for so clearly saying otherwise!

But ALL of that comes to a head in this parsha, where the lessons of this season’s Fall Feasts combine with a ‘greater Exodus,’ still to come, to show WHY those lies are so devastating.

Parsha “Ki Tavo” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha “Ki Tavo” (Deuteronomy 26:1 thru 29:8) is the most well-known collection of “blessings and cursings” in the Bible.

There is, of course, much more. But this year, there’s an additional twist as well. Having taught this for a number of years at this point, and noting just how relevant – and DESERVED – those curses are, it time for a different take. After all, if it’s not obvious by now how and why those curses apply, it’s fair to ask: Just what is it gonna take?

The Erev Shabbat overview begins with something that might seem quite different from how this one ends…what does ‘first fruits,’ and things that have to with His appointed times, have to do with blessings and cursings?

But it’s no coincidence this parsha coincides with the coming of the Fall Feasts, and all they represent.

The Sabbath midrash is a look at the question that should especially resonate this year: The reasons for the curses should be obvious, but will not be to far too many. And Deuteronomy 27:26 is why! Doesn’t it tell those who deny His Word exactly what the consequences are?

The curses are deserved, arguably even overdue; but YHVH is patient, to give all who will a chance to ‘return’ to Him. The question for those with eyes to see then becomes, what do we do now? And Mark Call, of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship, suggests the answer is in there, repeatedly.

It starts with “fear not!” – but it turns out that there is more than one Hebrew word for “fear,” and the difference is vital to the second part of the answer, especially for the time of Sukkot: REJOICE!

“Ki Tavo: So – the Well-Deserved Curses are Here…NOW What?”

Parsha “Ki Tetzi” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha “Ki Tetzi” (Deuteronomy 21:10 thru chapter 25) is unique in a number of ways. Not only is it “maximally politically IN-correct” – which itself speaks volumes – but it contains more ‘statutes, judgments, and commandments’ than just about any other parsha in the Torah, with the possible exception of Mishaptim itself.

But, as Mark explains in the Erev Shabbat study, it is the fact that there are so many CONTRASTS with what ‘the world’ now teaches in direct contradiction to what is here that should warn us about just where and when we are.

The Erev Shabbat reading and commentary of the entire parsha tells us why it matters.

During the midrash that follows, Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa builds on the theme that, “It’s the CONTRAST!” with an initial hypothesis:

It is, he contends, NO LONGER possible for a ‘revival’ to save a world, or even a nation, that merely revives a whore church.

And the proof is here. As is the answer.

“Return to Me,” means, “with our whole heart.”

“Ki Tetzi: It’s not JUST Not-PC; It’s the CONTRAST”

Parsha “Shoftim” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha “Shoftim” (Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9) begins with the word which means “judges,” and proceeds to describe a set of instruction having to do with the “rule of law,” and ‘justice,’ and concepts of what an honest, trustworthy judiciary looks like that is so foreign to us today it’s no WONDER the Whore Church is happy that the “law has been done away with.” The trouble is, when we read this parsha honestly, we can’t help but realize why judgment SHOULD be close at hand.

The key verse in the first chapter is “Justice, JUSTICE, you shall pursue…” and what should strike us about that admonition is that we live in a world which does NOT! And the rest of it makes it clear why.

The Erev Shabbat reading and commentary of the entire parsha tells us why it matters.

Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa begins the Sabbath midrash with an admission: reading this, and understanding what we were SUPPOSED to have – and to do – and comparing that with “justice you shall pervert,” instead, as a satanic replacement for His Word, is infuriating.

It’s been a long time coming, too.

To understand the root of that problem, we have to ask a question that is no longer even permitted:

What IS ‘justice’? And Who decides, anyway?

And that is a big part of why we lost it.

“Shoftim: Can we ‘judge’? What does that MEAN?”

Parsha “Re-eh” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha “Re’eh” (Deuteronomy 11:26-16:17) begins with the single word “Behold!” Or, more simply, in the modern English, just “See.” Which is what most of xtianity has refused to do for at least 1700 years now. And it’s pretty easy to actually read this one, and see why.

The Erev Shabbat reading and commentary of the entire parsha makes the MULTIPLE reasons for that clear:

One of the elements which cannot be ignored (but, somehow, still is…) is the level of disgust that YHVH makes clear that He has for practices rooted in idolatry. The text goes well beyond even saying that He hates them. And He certainly repeats the point, a LOT, but especially in this portion.

But what Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship frequently refers to as the ‘whore church’ has been doing precisely what He so vehemently forbids for seventeen centuries. Why is this message so poignant NOW? And that is where the emphasis this time around is different.

This week it’s not enough to note that the Torah portion comes right from today’s news.

The key is Deuteronomy 13 verse 3, and again in 7, and again in verse 14 — and Yahuah clearly Writes that it includes a death penalty:

If someone – anyone, even someone we love dearly – says, “let’s go and serve other gods,” it’s not enough just to NOT consent to it, or even pity, spare, or conceal the traitor.

The problem, though seems to depend on just what that means. Certainly, “adding in” pagan practices that He forbids (from bunnies and eggs to xmas trees to sun-god-day, arguably) are, at least to those who finally see it, abominable to Him. But, “He knows my heart,” we’ve all heard. Yeah, and it’s “deceitful above all, and desperately wicked.”

Now, however, there’s another whole dimension to consider. And that’s where we look now.

Fake gods aren’t just made of “wood, and stone,” and metal. The great god Science, and its high priest Fauci, are obvious. And now, the Next Generation of idolatry is silicon. Even mRNA, nanomaterials, and ‘wetware.’

There is a lot of ‘food for thought’ in this parsha, and it could not be more urgent, for reasons He has made clear for centuries, but perhaps not to the degree we should expect.

Parsha “Ekev” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Sometimes the Torah portion reading almost seems like it could have come from today’s news. Other times, we know the message applies, but we have to search a bit to make what later often turn out to be obvious connections.

This week, it’s a bit of both.

Parsha Ekev (Deuteronomy/Debarim 7:12-11:25) begins with a promise. BECAUSE (that word ‘ekev’, or even ‘it follows’, literally on the heels of) we obey His instruction, YHVH will keep His covenant. And for those that ask the question, “how do I know He loves me?” – that answer is right here, too.

Just as was true when Moses addressed the ‘mixed multitude’ of Israel before they were to take the land, we are at a “cusp,” a decision point. They faced giants, and fortified cities; we face a militarized global communist cabal, and a fortified swamp. All of whom still seem to serve that very same master.

And the Bible is chock-full of stories of invasion and conquest. Not just His people under Joshua to take the land, but invasions and conquest by Babylon, Assyria, and later even Rome. In every case, though, when it involved His people, it was about judgment in one way or another. That, too, is still important.

And there are a number of important parallels in this story, with where we are today. As Mark Call, of Shabbat Shalom Mesa points out, Abram, before being re-named Abraham, was told in Genesis 15:16, “Know of a certainty that your seed would be a stranger in a land that is not theirs,” and they shall be afflicted and in bondage for four hundred years. But that nation “I will judge,” and they will come out, but not soon, because, “the iniquity [even ‘depravity’ – avon] of the Amorite is not yet full.”

Still, consider that this same man, NOT TOO MUCH LATER, saw the utter destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah! What does that tell us? And what does it really take for the ‘iniquity’ to finally be ‘full’? So, today: Are we there yet?

“Ekev: Because – the iniquity, the DEPRAVITY even, is full”

Parsha “Vaetchanan” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha “Vaetchanan” (Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11) might be considered one of the ‘most important’ in the entire Torah: it includes not only the ‘second reading’ of the Ten Debaraim/Words/Sayings/Commandments, but also what the Messiah called the Greatest Commandment of all. So, it’s certainly “feature packed.”

The overview and reading from Erev Shabbat:

But, as Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship points out, there’s more still. The Torah portion also includes some of the very most IGNORED verses in the whole Book as well.

And when you compare how Moses laid it out with what Yahushua said in His ‘very first public address,’ the Sermon on the Mount, the reasons why become clear.

And, as Mark points out, this is a primer on how – and why – we must “rightly divide the Word of Truth.” And the midrash might also be called”

Parsha “Masei/Debarim” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

This week the regular annual cycle followed another double-parsha, but Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa wanted to spend more time on Matot, and instead decided to combine the last parsha of Numbers/Bemidbar into this week, where the “stages” seem to fit better with Moshe’s “introduction” besides. So, Masei (Numbers 33 through the end of the Book) and Devarim (chapters 1 through 3) are this week.

And it’s also a great combination from which to explore some of the ‘stages’ we see today.

First, the Erev Shabbat overview and reading:

The theme of ‘stages,’ shared by both of the readings, is where the midrash begins.

And this one by necessity examines some of the Big Lies Revealed in recent headlines. YHVH, in Amos 3:7 says that He “surely does nothing, unless He first reveals His secrets to His servants, the prophets.” And were also told, through the witness of three separate gospels, that there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed.

And not only are so many things hidden, and lied about, being revealed, but we are rapidly getting to the point where it will be hard to argue that His warnings aren’t UNDENIABLE.

And then what?

There came a point during the first set of plagues where people began to see what was happening, and listen. This week, there’s a strong case to be made that, “It’s time!”

Double parsha Masei/Devarim: It’s Time!

Why Does the ‘Whore Church’ Fear Polygyny?

Regular listeners to the Scripture teachings on this site, and radio programs like “Come out of her, My people,” already know why that term – that some might even find ‘offensive’ – is in the title. But if not, read on…because in that title you already have part of the answer.

But only the first part.  And only the tip of the iceberg.  And that leads to the ‘Rest of the Story.’

The rest of that story leads to more questions.  Questions that some reading this far may already know the answers to, but also questions that you are simply NOT supposed to ask!  Which at least is more of an answer to the ‘headline question.’

So let’s start there.  And note, in the process, that how this plays out depends entirely on whether you know what Scripture actually SAYS about polygyny*, that form of marriage in which a man may have more than one wife, or not.  And if you are not already familiar with that easily provable fact, that, too, is another clue.

The point of this article is not to prove the, at least in hindsight, obvious.  It is to examine the CONSEQUENCES, and thus even the motives, for the Deception.  Because that directly impacts how we walk, from this point forward.

For many who have begun to study what the Bible really says about marriage, perhaps the most shocking discovery, at least initially, is that a man having more than one wife is NEVER, anywhere, prohibited in Scripture.  (And claims to the contrary are, at best, bad translation; at worst, they make the point in the title.)  In fact, there are places (at least three that this author can demonstrate) where it may be required.

But the story hasn’t yet even come to a middle.  Perhaps an even more telling argument from Scripture is,  ‘if polygyny is a ‘sin’ in the Bible, then, why, oh, why, would God Himself EVER even use a metaphor like that to DESCRIBE Himself?’  Not just once, if fact, but through at least two prophetic witnesses?

Many readers here will already know that answer, too:  YHVH self-describes as the husband of two wives, variously described as “Ahola and Aholabah,” Israel, the northern kingdom and Judah the southern, after the split following the reign of King Solomon,  Samaria and Jerusalem, and even by repeated references to the lines of their respective kings, Ephraim and Judah/David.  The stories appear in Jeremiah chapter 3, and Ezekiel chapter 23, but the references literally permeate all of Scripture.

And that, too, is a BIG part of the answer.  And also the offense.   Because He called BOTH of those two kingdoms unfaithful, adulterous/idolatrous, and yes, harlots, or, in the modern vernacular, “whores.”  And the reasons He outlines are downright graphic.  But they certainly make the point.

For those reasons, both ‘whoring wives’ were sent into exile, or “put away” — exactly as first prophesied by Moses in Deuteronomy —  and then scattered, where we still remain, “throughout the nations.”  Both history and the Bible make clear that the descendants of that northern kingdom, often referred to as the “ten lost tribes,” later become what is often also known as the ‘gentile church,’ which sometimes claimed various titles that imply “universal,” and even ONLY (which, again, points to the answer to That Question) while the southern kingdom clearly evolved into what now is generally thought of as ‘rabbinic Judaism.’   In both cases, the reader will no doubt be able to cite other ‘common descriptors’ as well…but more on that shortly.

What has been described is also commonly referred to by those who understand the Biblical history as “the two houses.”  (There are, not surprisingly, other metaphors as well; Ezekiel in chapter 37 also gave us the ‘two sticks’ prophecy, but, more importantly, what WILL happen – eventually.  And that, too, is a big part of the ‘rest of the story.’   As is, why it hasn’t happened YET.)

Which takes us full-circle, at least for now.

An honest reading of the stories of the Two Whoring Wives, Ephraim and Judah, or, yes – the Whore Church, and the Whore Synagogue – leads directly to the conclusion that Scripture shows is undeniable:  BOTH are guilty of idolatry (equivalent to spiritual adultery) and BOTH remain in exile, ‘for cause.’  (The northern branch, the Whore Church, was even given a ‘certificate of divorce,’ but that is another, even deeper, study.  And, yes, part of another set of questions…)

And it’s the “why” behind THOSE questions that inevitably follow which lead to the Bigger Answer to that Title Question.

If the ‘Whore Church’ is still in exile, and not worthy of being the “One True Bride of Christ,” where does that lead?  To a whole lot of other questions that answer the rest of that question, “WHY?”

And THOSE are the questions that must not be asked!  Because they begin to explain why Ezekiel’s Two Sticks are not yet “echad,” or unified, in His Hand!

The prophet Jeremiah put it this way, in another set of questions that so many who are beginning to “return to Me,” as He implored the Whore Church repeatedly in chapter 3, are now asking:  Will we continue to “make gods” for ourselves that “are not gods?”

If we begin to question the lies we have been told about marriage, and the lie that ‘there can be only one,’ but it turns out NOT to be YHVH, the Author of Scripture, then what else have we been lied to about?

It turns out that there are SO many other lies, things that have divided those ‘two houses,’ literally for centuries, that will demand answers, and lead to still other unthinkable questions, that it’s no wonder the “Whore Church” doesn’t want them asked.**

“O YHVH, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles [‘goyim,’ others, nations, lost tribes] shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.”  – Jeremiah 16:19

And they’ll start asking questions, too!

———————————–

* Not to be confused with ‘polygymy’, a misnomer.  Because that too-general term also includes forms of marriage explicitly forbidden by Scripture, notable ‘polyandry,’ under the same broad, thus confusing umbrella.  The Bible makes clear that a woman must have a single husband, or the result is called ‘adultery’ instead.

**  There’s another simple, but disparate, answer to the question, ‘Why does the Whore Church fear polygyny’ that merits mention, here, too — but it’s the subject of another article:  POWER.    After the Roman Church realized that a great way to nip threats to its ‘church-state empire’ in the bud was to prohibit the biggest threat to that power – the priests themselves, and family dynasties they might produce – from marriage at all, the next obvious step, less than a century later, was to prohibit the form of family dynasty that produced the wealth and power of the Twelve Tribes of Jacob/Israel themselves:  polygyny.

But that answer, too, points us back to the same Bigger Story, and questions that Must Not Be Asked.

Parsha “Matot” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha Matot (Numbers 30:2 through chapter 32) begins with the topic, and what “YHVH has commanded,” concerning vows. And, as Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship has suggested literally every time it’s taught, it is in his opinion one of the most vital foundations for understanding marriage. As well what has been done to it.

But this year, in the context of a nation, and a world, where duplicity has replaced integrity in virtually every public forum, at minimum, there’s even more here to pay careful attention to.

This time, the Erev Shabbat reading is the very heart of the story:

This week we saw still more graphic illustrations of men who put their hands on a Bible and lie. It’s not just that in SO many cases a “man’s word is NOT his bond” any more, it’s that we have gotten so inured to perfidy that we are no longer even surprised by it, and those who do so have no shame. But that leads to a question, often asked: How did we GET here? It seems there are just too many obvious answers to make sense of the whole.

But that then confuses the even more important question: How do we get BACK?

There really may be a succinct answer in this parsha. The most basic unit of ‘government,’ ordained by Yahuah and outlined in Genesis, and repeatedly thereafter, is the family. And, more importantly, what is called ‘patriarchy’.

And, right there, the problem stares us in the face. The fact that even that word itself is now practically a curse to those who, let’s be honest, HATE His Word, is virtually a proof.

So, how do you destroy a a people, a nation, a world? Start there. Destroy men. Then the family. And they can work up to killing kids later.

This parsha, and this teaching, is decidedly NOT “politically correct.” Which is where we start.

Matot and Numbers 30: How did we get here? And how do we turn back?

The combined full two-part teaching is here, via Hebrew Nation Radio.
