Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa for a look what another of ‘those’ detailed, and therefore, often ignored (like so much of that “Old” Testament…) portions of Scripture; Parsha “Vayikra,” Leviticus/Vayikra chapters 1 through 5.) If anything, however, this whole BOOK may be among the most ignored in all of Scripture.

It’s also again true that not only is there much more to this one “than meets the eye,” but it’s part of the most divisive, and even “fought over” in His Word, too.

What does a wise heart have to do with what much of xtianity calls a really boring part of Scripture that’s been “done away with” anyway? The answer goes to the very heart of what is wrong with a ‘church’ that denies His Word, yet claims He dwell in hard hearts that have no place for Him.

The Sabbath Day teaching this week continues from there into a variety of related Scriptures, from the haftorah and readings from the prophets (a couple of Mark’s faves, he admits…) into Matthew 5, and the oh-so-common ‘twisting’ of the “Sermon on the Mount”. There’s a reason why the prophet Isaiah said that there will come a time (and it certainly applies NOW!) where “children are their oppressors,” and it gets worse from there.

“Bo”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa for the conclusion of the story of the ‘Ten Plagues’ (or 3 x 3 + 1) that begins the story of the Exodus. (Parsha “Bo,” Exodus 10:1 through 13:16)

The Erev Shabbat overview begins with the final two plagues in the “three sets”, locusts, and darkness which can “even be felt,” and culminates with the unique, separately-prophesied death of the firstborn. Oh, and there’s a pretty detailed description of the “prototype” — the first Pesach (“Passover”) — in there, too, even though much of churchianity prefers to ignore the part where He says, over and over even, to remember it, teach it, and keep it, “throughout your generations,” as a “chukat olam,” or statute forever.

“Vayeira”– teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa for the second parsha in the Book of Exodus, and the first in the famous story of the Ten Plagues. (Parsha “Shemot,” Exodus 6:2 through 9:35)
